Search the wooden cabinets and drawers
Every cabinet shows a Search prompt when you are close. One of them holds the Key; the rest are empty. The container changes between runs, so there is no fixed cabinet to rush to.
KEY LOCATION · EXIT ITEM 2 OF 3
Direct answer: the Key is hidden in one of the wooden cabinets or drawers, and which one changes from run to run. Search, cancel fast on empty ones, and use it on the EXIT lock that reads Key Needed. It is a different item from the keycard. Checked October 4, 2026.

Searching locks you in place for a moment. In the original house, check where the Locust is before you start a search, and cancel and move on if a cabinet is empty.
Give one player the Key search while others solve the puzzle or handle the keycard. Call out which hallways are already cleared so nobody re-opens the same cabinets.
At the green EXIT, the lock that still needs it reads Key Needed. Use the Key there; the door also needs the wire cutters and the keycard before it opens.
